[edit] Cost of Living
[edit] Sample Budgets
- The Uruguay budget from Live and Invest Overseas provides a sample monthly budget. The data appears to have been collected in August 2008 and their budget assumes living in Salto or Atlantida. The budget also seems to omit some crucial things such as health insurance (but see Health) although it does include information about renting a car.
- This budget provides a cost-of-living estimate current as of 2008-09.
[edit] Utilities
- Some general estimates for utility prices can be found on a forum post here.
- The Electricity section also contains information on electrical tariffs if you want to compute your own costs.
[edit] Food Prices
- You can browse the online store of Devoto, an upscale supermarket, to find out what current prices are for many different types of goods.
- List of random prices at Tienda Ingelsa (2009-06)
- Some stores, such as Ecotiendas, publish online prices that may be helpful in calculating the cost of living. Note that Ecotiendas is an organic store and their prices are probably quite expensive.
- Some bloggers have written about the cost of buying goods at ferias (farmers' markets) (2009-06), and some even cheaper feria buys (2009-07).
- A more comprehensive list of feria prices, as well as a staple basket of foods. This list was produced by the Uruguayan government and the original source is here.
- See also the Food section for a list of major supermarkets.
